TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS 2007

 On Friday 23rd March our mixed tag team went Shaw Lane to compete against our pyramid schools rugby tournament. This was a very eventful afternoon and once again our children did us proud with not only their sportsmanship but also their sporting skills. The team played 5 matches and won 4 of them putting us through to the Barnsley finals on Wednesday the 28^th March.

The finals saw all the qualifying teams split into 4 groups of around 5 teams in each. After playing the teams in our group we came top and moved onto the semi-finals.

As with the other games we played this was a tough one but our side came through 3 tries to 2.

THE FINAL ? we has seen our opponents win their group and then win their semi-final 5 tries to 1 so we knew it would be tough. As soon as the ref blew the whistle we attacked and scored a try early on in the game with some great team skills rounded of by a storming run from Sam.

With 2 minutes to go we were 3 ? 1 up and listening for the final whistle. After a good run from one of the opposition we found ourselves 3 ? 2 up and a few nervous last minutes. But we held on and as you can see from the photo above won the tournament.

Next stop ? Doncaster for the regional finals ? we will keep you posted.

Can we say a big thanks to Ms French and Dawn for taking us to both events and cheering us on from the sidelines.

Can we also say a BIG thank you to Mrs. Andrews and the children from Doncaster Road for all their support during the final. They performed brilliantly all afternoon and made it through to the semi-finals as well. In fact this was the only team that we did not beat on the Friday in the pyramid competition. Once they had played their game the team all stayed behind with staff and parents and cheered on our team.

This gave us a huge boost and was greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone- I've just been reading all about your tag rugby success. We had a great time and were very pleased to see Dodworth win. We really did want a Dodworth and Doncaster Road Final but it wasn't to be. It was a fabulous day and you did so well in the final against a tough team. You showed fantastic team spirit and your coaches were FABULOUS! congratulations- we'd love a rematch!
